Dr. Penado has held positions in the aerospace industry as a research scientist and group leader working in the design, analysis, optimization, and manufacture of composite structures. His research interests include composite materials, design, fracture mechanics, solid mechanics, finite elements, and related areas. In addition, he has served as a consultant to industry in the design and analysis of wind turbine blades made of composite materials.
