Technical Engineering Management

This track includes a combination of coursework in engineering, management, and business. It is primarily intended for students with at least 2 years of work experience, whose career path is likely to include a position such as "chief engineer." Students are required to select 12CH of coursework from a predefined set of courses. In addition, they are required to take at least 9CH of elective engineering coursework and 6CH of coursework in business fundamentals. Students pursuing the M.Eng. degree via this curricular track are required to complete a final report, which provides a critical analysis of a topic that is appropriate to the plan of study and is subject to approval by the advisory committee.

Students must select at least one course each from four of the bulleted items:

Engineering Electives (9CH):
Students must complete 9CH of elective engineering coursework. These courses are subject to the approval of the advisory committee, and may include courses listed above that exceed the individual requirements.

Engineering Math (3CH):
Students must complete 3CH of a graduate-level mathematics course that is appropriate to the chosen engineering electives. Examples of such courses include: (UA) SIE 500 a, b & c. This course is subject to the approval of the advisory committee.

Business Fundamentals (6CH):
Students must complete 6CH of coursework in fundamental business topics, including but not limited to: finance, marketing, accounting, and supply chain management. These courses are subject to the approval of the advisory committee, and may be transferred from a non-affiliated institution. Examples of such courses include (NAU) EGR 689: Project Administration (web) and (UA) ENGR 565 Financial Management for Engineers.

Final Report (1CH):
All students are required to complete a "Final Report " (1 CH). This report must be appropriate to the student's plan of study, and is subject to the approval of the student's advisory committee.
